七、《老照片》 30’×3集 2002年
1910年,美国教师那爱德(LUTHER KNIGHT)从美国来到成都,在四川大学的前身——大清国四川高等学堂任化学和算学教授,1913年因病死于成都,享年34岁。他留下了照片300多张,给姐姐尤雯塔的信件40多封。
那爱德在中国生活了两年另十个月。其间,他经历了中国历史上的一次重大事件——大清帝国灭亡,四川大汉军政府成立和遍及全国的辛亥革命。那爱德的照片和信件,从一个美国人的角度记录了这一重大历史事件。同时,他的照片也涉及到了当时四川、南京和上海普通中国人的生活。
2002年,那爱德的后人约翰(JOHN KNIGHT,现居香港)发现了这批照片和信件,他和他的中国朋友想尽办法要在成都用这批照片 办一个展览。
那爱德记录了中国历史;中国改变了那爱德的命运。
In 1910, Luther Knight, an American began his teaching career at Sichuan Institute of Higher Education Chengdu, China. In 1913, he died in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province.
During his stay, the last imperial dynasty was overthrown in China. A republic replaced the monarchy. Knight witnessed the great change and recorded the transition within his photos and letters. His life was also intermingled with some part of Chinese history.
China changed the fate of Knight.
Knight recorded history for China.
In 2002, John Knight, Luther’s posterity who is living in Hong Kong, found the photos and letters. John and his Chinese friend try to hold a exhibition with all the photos in Chengdu…
